Aamir Khan raises funds for flood victims

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has initiated a drive to collect funds for the victims of the recent Uttarakhand floods. He kickstarted the drive by donating a sum of 25 lakh.
The collected funds will be handed over to the PM Relief Fund on behalf of the Film and Television Producers' Guild.
The 48-year-old actor has been known to be a philanthropist who has supported such causes in the past. Many stars in the film industry have also done their parts, such as screenwriter Javed Akhtar and actor Shatrughan Sinha donating 50 lakh each as well as Shabana Azmi who donated 5 lakh through her NGO while Anupam Kher has donated 1 lakh through his foundation.
Actress Shabana said, "More funds are coming in. So we should be able to collect a substantial amount."
It has been reported that the film industry has already collected over 1 crore and is working on ways to generate more funds through an upcoming charity concert.

Aamir Khan has initiated a drive for collecting funds for the victims of the Uttarakhand floods.
The actor-filmmaker, who has supported such causes before, started off with his own donation of 25 lakh. The collection will be handed over to the PM Relief Fund on behalf of the Film and Television Producers' Guild.
So far, the film industry has collected about 1 crore.
Javed Akhtar and Shatrughan Sinha have donated 50 lakh each from their MP funds. Shabana Azmi has given 5 lakh from her NGO while Anupam Kher has donated 1 lakh through his foundation.
Said Shabana, "More funds are coming in. So we should be able to manage a substantial amount."
It may be recalled here that FWICE (Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees) and Film and TV Producers' Guild have announced that the industry is considering adopting a village, or supporting the effort to resettle some of the local residents of Uttarakhand who have been uprooted.
The industry is working on ways to generate funds. One such initiative could be a charity concert very soon.

У Аамира Кхана и Ритика Рошана есть кое-что общее. Они оба снимались в серии Dhoom, и оба отличились в ещё более значимом деле - помощи жертвам наводнения в Уттаракханде.
Известно, что Аамир инициировал сбор средств в помощь жертвам. Лично сам он сделал вклад в 25 лакхов (моё прим. - ок. 42,000 дол). Теперь стало известно, что Ритик пожертвовал такую же сумму. Он сразу же послал своего секретаря на съёмки Dhoom 3, где сейчас находится Аамир, с заданием вручить чек тому лично в руки.
«Среди всего негатива нашего мира позитив потеряться не должен, - сказал Р.Рошан. - Спасибо Аамиру за такую инициативу».
Пожертвования Болливуда в итоге будут переданы в специальный фонд премьер-министра.
