Aamir Khan to play the baddie in Rajinikanth's Robot 2?
Mumbai Mirror | Jul 18, 2014, 12.00 AM IST
For months now, speculation has been rife about Aamir Khan's next film after 'P.K'. Now, Mirror has learnt that it could be Shankar's sequel to Robot, starring Rajinikanth once again, which is set to roll early next year. A source close to the filmmaker told this newspaper, "Preliminary talks are on to sign Aamir."
Aamir has been approached to play the baddie in the film.
Said the source, "Given the popularity of the original, which co-starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, it was natural for the makers to consider a second film. The modalities are currently being discussed."
This is Shankar's second attempt to induct Aamir into the hit franchise. Robot was initially planned with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. The actor was also supposed to produce the fantasy adventure, but the deal fell through following creative differences.Shankar then approached Aamir who too turned it down. The film then went to Rajinikanth who made it a blockbuster.

No truth in Aamir Khan being Rajinikanth's villain

Certain sections of the media have been reporting that Shankar has approached Aamir Khan to play the antagonist in Endhiran 2. The industry has been abuzz with reports that the director is keen on making the sequel to the Rajinikanth-starrer as a bilingual and the idea of casting Aamir as the Superstar's 'villain' would be a coup of sorts. While Shankar's team was unwilling to comment, Aamir Khan's spokesperson denies the reports, saying, "There's no truth to this at all."
Just a couple of days ago, rumours of Rajinikanth being admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad began doing the rounds. A section of the media reported that the Superstar had insisted on shooting for a fight sequence in KS Ravikumar's Lingaa without a body double. The rigorous moves for the sequence had made him exert himself. As a result, the star fainted. The reports claimed he was rushed to a private hospital.
However, putting all rumours and anxiety of the Superstar's fans to rest, director KS Ravikumar says, "Rajinikanth is happily shooting for the film in Hyderabad. There is not even an iota of truth in whatever is being said about his health. He's hale and hearty and is active on the set. The man is full of enthusiasm."
