Aamir's 'Satyamev Jayate 2' to feature UP Police's initiative
The team of Satyamev Jayate has already visited the helpline office in Lucknow for a preliminary shoot for the second season of the controversial show
The UP Police's initiative, the 1090 Women's Helpline, has been the point of interest of many celebrities/activists visiting the city. When Aamir Khan visited Lucknow last year for the promotion of Talaash, he also visited the call centre managed entirely by women. Now it's learnt that the helpline will be featured on Season 2 of Aamir Khan's TV show, Satyamev Jayate.
"Aamir Khan had visited our center in November 2012, when he was in the city to promote his film, and really liked the concept," says DIG Navniet Sekera, officer heading the helpline services. "Aamir had interacted with our volunteers and met the officers who are at work 24X7 on this project, and had greatly appreciated the effort to help women in distress," he adds, "He had then expressed his interest to include us in his show Satyamev Jayate. A few weeks ago, a team from his office came to meet us and has taken preliminary shots and information about our service. Though we are yet to get a written confirmation from Aamir, but it is more or less confirmed that 1090 will make it to the show."
Radio and Maintenance Officer and technical head of 1090, Kunwar Raghavendra Pratap Singh confirms, "Aamir sahab's team had visited us a couple of weeks ago and shot an introductory video of our office and workers. They will be coming in November to shoot the final episode. The final dates will be confirmed to us in October."
The 1090 helpline was launched on Bhai Dooj last year by the Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav, to help women across the state facing harassment in their homes, at the workplace, through phones or even on social networking sites. It has also found its way to the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi and Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, as a case study. "IIM Lucknow is studying its feasiblity under a corporate environment," says Sekera.
A team of Channel 4 of the United Kingdom also visited the centre earlier this year and made a documentary on them.
