After a lull, the makers of "Dhoom 3" have released the trailer of the film just a couple of days before Rakesh Roshan's ambitious film "Krrish 3" hits theatres. Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan were present at the trailer launch event on Wednesday, but the absence of lead actress Katrina Kaif and Uday Chopra raised many eyebrows.

The trailer of Dhoom 3, which released today, is a hard one to review. It manages to maintain an air of enigma around one of the most hyped movies of the year by not revealing anything about the storyline at all. The trailer manages this feat by using a clever combination of explosions, Aamir Khan's raised eyebrows and slow-motion. But with repeated viewings, we were able to break the Dhoom 3 trailer down to the simplest of forms: statistics. Here's what we knew so far: the Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Uday Chopra starrer is slated to release in December. Here's what we knew after watching the trailer fourteen times.

Aamir Khan, who has played a variety of roles in his 25-year-old career, says Dhoom 3 is his toughest role so far. In the last couple of years, the 48-year-old star gave hits in the form of Taare Zameen Par, Ghajini and 3 Idiots and his role in each of them was as different as chalk to cheese. I had a great time working in the film," Aamir told reporters on Wednesday at the trailer launch of the film. In terms of preparation, the actor had to workout a lot for Dhoom 3. "I am playing a gymnast in the film. I also went for circus training for the film. There was a lot of hard work for the film. I followed a strict diet." The actor plays a negative role in director Vijay Krishna Acharya's sleek and stylish thriller — but says not to compare it with the typical villain of the big screen. "I liked the story and I was amazed after reading the script. I am not playing a typical Hindi cinema villain in Dhoom 3. I don't want people to feel I am playing a villain," said Aamir.

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who will be next seen playing the antagonist in upcoming YRF flick Dhoom 3, was in quite a witty mood during a press conference related to the high-octane thriller.

When a reporter asked Abhishek Bachchan about his character ACP Jai Dixit and his designation, which has remained the same since the first film in the Dhoom series, Abhishek said, "I am still playing ACP Jai Dixit in the film." At this, Aamir, who plays the antagonist Sahir, quipped, "I am sure ACP Jai Dixit will be promoted after he is successful in catching me!"

Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Dhoom 3 also stars Uday Chopra as ace biker Ali and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. Dhoom 3 is slated to release on December 20 this year.

Despite hurting himself recently, actor Abhishek Bachchan is working hard to promote his forthcoming film "Dhoom 3".

The actor injured himself while working out Monday and ended up having a torn tendon in his elbow.

"He attended an event yesterday (Tuesday) and was also present the 'Dhoom 3' trailer launch today (Wednesday)," a source close to the actor told IANS. The 37-year-old has not taken any kind of break from working gyming sessions.

“Abhishek is still working out. He is doing light weights at the moment. He is not taking it easy at all,” the source added.

"Dhoom 3", produced by Aditya Chopra, will release Dec 20 and it will see Aamir Khan in a negative role.

The third instalment in the "Dhoom" series, which created 'dhoom' in 2004 with high voltage action and sleek presentation, also stars Katrina Kaif and Uday Chopra.
