Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan launched legendary actor Dilip Kumar's biography at a five-star hotel here.

Along with Dilip Kumar's wife Saira Banu, the book launch was attended by a host of Bollywood celebrities here last night.

The book, titled 'Substance and Shadow', is authored by Uday Tara Nayar, a close family friend of the Bollywood thespian. It chronicles the life of Kumar right from his childhood, career, the ups and downs in his life, his family and more.

"This evening is special and we hope everyone likes his biography. I am feeling great today. It is a dream come true to me. Everyone will know about his childhood, growing up years and you will hear it from him. For the first time he has spoken about it," Banu told reporters here.

Aamir recited a poem penned by Prasoon Joshi and few actors came on stage to share their experiences about the veteran actor.

Aamir Khan couldn't curtail his excitement when he recently unveiled Dilip Kumar's autobiography 'The Shadow and The Substance' along with veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. Aamir was seen kissing Dilip Kumar's hand lovingly while he was resting his head on his wife and veteran actress Saira Banu's shoulder. 

Aamir first read out a poem written by his friend and writer-poet Prasoon Joshi amidst huge round of applause. "I wish Prasoon was personally here to read out," said Aamir, claiming that he was the biggest fan of Dilip Kumar in the industry. "There is no bigger fan of Dilip Kumar than me in the industry. I have seen every film of his many times and he has had a huge influence on me. The best part is that I rediscover him with every film and continue to learn. 

Aamir further accompanied senior Bachchan on the stage to unveil the autobiography. Singers Shaan and Javed Ali along with composer Lalit Pandit recreated magic and took people down the memory lane with some of Dilip Kumar's hit songs like Suhana Safar, Madhuban mein radhika, Nain lad gayee, Ude jab jab zulfien teri and many more.
