Love jihad same as honour killings: Aamir Khan
BHOPAL: Bollywood actor and host of show Satyamev Jayate Aamir Khan has compared love jihad to honour killings. The actor was in Bhopal on Sunday for the live screening of 'Mumkin Hai' programme.
Addressing a press conference thereafter, the actor dodged a direct question on the issue of 'love jihad' by saying "I need to do more research before I give a significant comment." However, he later compared love jihad to honour killings. "In both cases, we don't respect the right of an individual to choose a partner for life."
Talking about himself, he said, "I am a Muslim and both my former wife Reena and current spouse Kiran are Hindus. Also my sister is married to a Hindu. The children in our family learn about all religions. I don't believe in forceful conversions as everyone has a right to religion and right to life. For me, humanity is the supreme religion."
On the issue of 30 years of Bhopal Gas Tragedy considered the world's worst industrial disaster and whether he would make an episode on it, he said, "We don't reveal topics beforehand but I would definitely discuss this with my team and think about how we can incorporate this into the programme."
