Why is Aamir Khan talking in Bhojpuri?
It is not for nothing that Aamir Khan is known as a perfectionist. The superstar is known to go an extra length to make his roles believable on screen.
In his forthcoming film Raj Kumar Hirani directed P.K. the superstar will be seen talking in Bhojpuri. According to Aamir's spokesperson the actor is now heard speaking in Bhojpuri to people around him.
Instead of greeting people in English or Hindi, Aamir has switched to Bhojpuri lingo.
After learning Bhojpuri lines and rattling them off for his Christmas release, P.K., the actor has been fluently conversing in the newly learnt language with everyone, we are told.
Aamir converses in Bhojpuri with his staff, kids, colleagues, friends and in fact, anyone who drops by to meet him. "He will order tea in Bhojpuri, suddenly break into the language in the middle of a conversation and sees you off with a "Phir milab."
The actor learnt fluent Bhojpuri for his film and he wants to continue speaking the language so that he can speak it as fluently as English or Hindi.
Aamir had earlier learnt Marathi and swimming for one of his earlier films as well. That was then. According to photographers who had gone to cover a celebrity football match organized by Aamir Khan's daughter Ira last week, Aamir spoke to them in Marathi. He even inquired about their decision to not click Salman Khan on the occasion. He even offered to intervene and resolve the imbroglio. All this was done in Marathi.
We think Aamir knew that it was serious issue he was discussing. He must have thought better to speak to the photographers in the language they are most comfortable in. Imagine Aamir discussing the issue in Bhojpuri. It could have resulted in a miscommunication.
Aamir Khan talks in Bhojpuri in PK
Chances are that if you run into Aamir Khan, instead of greeting you in Hindi or angrezi, the actor will stump you with his Bhojpuri.
No, Mr Perfectionist hasn't moved into Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirahua' and Manoj Tiwari's territory. But he plays a guy who enjoys a tipple and speaks the lingo in Rajkumar Hirani's Christmas offering, P.K.
According to a source, "When he was shooting for the film, Aamir simply learnt his lines and rattled them off. But he took a shine to the language and decided that when he had the time, he would learn Bhojpuri properly."
Now, he has got himself a tutor but Aamir being Aamir, doesn't restrict his interest to lessons alone. He converses in the newly-learnt language with members of his staff, family, friends, colleagues, in fact, anyone who drops by to meet him these days. "He will order tea in Bhojpuri, suddenly break into the language in the middle of a conversation and sees you off with a `Phir milab'," informs the source.
A few years ago, Aamir had made a resolution on his birthday to learn something new every year. One year, it was Marathi and another year it was swimming.
"He had not been allowed to step into a pool as a child because his mother was terrified that he might drown. Years later, he not only learnt swimming but even dived underwater when filming Talaash," informed the source.
Maybe the new language will come in handy sometime too, but for now Aamir is simply enjoying it.
The actor's spokesperson confirmed the news saying, "Yes, these days, Aamir is speaking to everyone around in Bhojpuri."
