Aamir Khan shoots for music video

Pic: VIJAYANAND GUPTAThe reason why I roped in Ashok Mehta as cinematographer is because I respect him immensely and wouldnt dare interfere with the camerawork, says Baba Azmi at the outset.
Azmi was content being director and not cinematographer (by choice) at the shoot of his music video of the album Pyar Ka Jashan at R K Studios yesterday.
Written by his late father the noted Urdu poet Kaifi Azmi, the album consists of eight songs.
One of the tracks, a soft romantic number, which goes Jab Bhi Choom Leta Hoon In Haseen Aakhon Ko, Sau Chiraag Andhere Mein Jhilmalate Hai is being made into a music video with Aamir Khan and Gauri Karnik in the cast.
The music for the album has been provided by Roopkumar Rathod who has also sung the numbers.
Azmi who conceptualised this project has been shooting the music video from Sunday.
The look and make-up for the video is minimal, especially when you have Ashok Mehta shooting it, says Karnik who appears in a music video for the first time.
Azmi apparently liked her in Sur and found her eyes interesting as he puts it and selected Karnik for the video.
I was on the look out for a new male face and asked Aamir whom he had auditioned for Lagaan. After hearing why I was on the look out for a new face he suggested himself for the video. That was it... Aamir was on, says Azmi.
The sets for the shoot yesterday comprised only mirrors and lights aplenty - a trademark of Mehtas photography.
Khan went about the paces of the opening line Jab Bhi Choom... several times over dressed in blue jeans and black T-shirt while Karnik, also in blue jeans and a black strappy T-shirt, awaited her turn.
Rachel Reuben who is doing the styling for the video provided the instructions including telling Karnik to take a short nap to look fresh for the shoot.
While choroegrapher Bhupi informed that the video does not have many dance steps as such as the track is a slow romantic one.
Khan, who sports long tresses now, preferred not to comment about his new role. I will speak only at the media meet for this album.
We, therefore, preferred to let him bask in his new-found reflected glory at the music video shoot.
